Analytical Scientist

Responsibilities:

Automation Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support methods for microfluidic devices and liquid handlers for team scientists
  • Assist with assay development and application of relevant technologies as a project team member

  • Develop preventative maintenance routines for supported instrumentation
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in cross functional team environment

Bioinformatician

Position Summary

You would develop and deploy robust data processing and analysis pipelines for NGS, microarray and other large ‘omics datasets, apply high-dimensional analyses to answer a wide variety of research questions, and work closely with other collaborators across enEvolv.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy robust data processing and analysis pipelines for a variety of NGS protocols and related methods
  • Identify and benchmark available tools and develop new algorithms as needed for use in analysis pipelines
  • Manage the release and deployment of pipelines in a shared cloud computing infrastructure
  • Employ best practices in coding, including thorough testing and documentation of code
  • Support a wide variety of research via data analysis, statistical analysis, and experimental design
  • Work collaboratively with scientists, software engineers, and others across the company

Qualifications

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or related discipline
  • Proven success in the design, development, and deployment of data analysis pipelines
  • Familiarity with modern NGS tools and analysis of biological sequence data
  • Proficiency in programming, scripting, querying or statistical analysis languages such as R, Python, Perl
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • In depth knowledge of relevant public and proprietary databases, methods and tools

Director of Computational Biology

Position Summary

You would lead the computational analysis of strain engineering projects bringing together diverse sets of expertise among team members, implementing cutting edge computational approaches to support our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Report to Executive Management
  • Build team to develop in-house computational infrastructure to address company needs
  • Lead development of new algorithms and methods to enhance enEvolv’s existing pipeline for strain and protein engineering
  • Lead teams responsible for computational analysis for strain and protein engineering projects
  • Work closely with biological scientists to design studies for experimental validation of in silico-derived predictions / assist with the analysis and interpretation of study results
  • Present work and results to partners and at conferences

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science with experience in Bioinformatics are essential, and 4-6 years in the biotech is preferred
  • Experience leading scientific teams and demonstrated experience in unleashing maximum performance and creativity of team members
  • Comfortable fostering an open and collaborative work environment
  • In-depth familiarity with computational and statistical methodologies for analysis of next generation sequencing, proteomic and metabolomics data is required
  • Experience with machine learning is highly desirable
  • Expertise in network biology, systems biology is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages e.g. C/C++, Java, Python, Perl in a Linux/UNIX environment
  • Proficiency in R or Matlab for statistical analysis

Fermentation Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain microbial bioreactor systems
  • Develop processes for fermentation of novel engineered microbes
  • Collaborate with strain engineers to optimize fermentation screening from microtiter to bioreactor scale
  • Collaborate with analytical scientists to streamline data collection procedures
  • Design experiments, analyze data and summarize findings into technical reports
  • Handle complex protocols
  • Communicate effectively within the group and with other functional groups in the company
  • Support other team members in the laboratory for process development operations
  • Be flexible and willing to work during off hours, weekends when required

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt protocols from literature; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • A good understanding of microbial physiology and how it relates to fermentation productivity
  • Hands on experience operating lab scale bioreactors to culture diverse microbial species
  • Ability to design and run different fermentation processes (fed-batch, chemostat, etc.)

Full Stack Engineer

Responsibilities

Machine Learning Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance our machine learning platform
  • Work in close partnership with the team to improve the accuracy of designs
  • Use the output of our sequencing analysis to test and improve models

Desired skills

  • Machine learning algorithm developer with focus on genomic data applications.
  • Experience using regression, supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Expert knowledge of probability and statistics with focus on working with high-dimensional data

Research Associate

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build DNA (plasmids, genomic constructs, etc.)
  • Execute long-term genome engineering projects and screens
  • Handle complex protocols, assist in experimental design, data analysis, and be able to summarize findings into technical reports
  • Support other team members in the laboratory for process development operations
  • Maintain professional, scientific, and ethical integrity

Strain Engineer

Responsibilities

Structural Biologist

Position Summary

We are looking for a structural biologist to help engineer suites of proteins to respond to non-cognate ligands for use as in vivo sensors. Sensor engineering forms a key technology to enEvolv and integrates into most engineering projects in the company.

Responsibilities

  • Determining the structural basis for binding specificity between related ligands
  • Design mutational libraries to alter ligand specificity through the integration of models, experimental/biophysical data, and evolutionary information
  • Identify new protein chassis for integration into the sensor engineering platform
  • Work in cross functional team environment
  • Optimize methods to improved turnaround time, library hit rates and sensor characteristics

Qualifications

  • A PhD in structural biology and 4-6 years industrial experience
  • Demonstrated success in protein engineering
  • Experience with Rosetta design suite
  • Familiarity with biophysical techniques to inform design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with common scripting languages
